I have the opportunity of traveling to Italy this summer, and was wondering if there is a chance that I could see Kaka, Seedorf, or maybe Nesta train! So I don’t really know what their summer schedule will be like, but if anyone has an idea I’d love to know. Thank you.

What city should I visit in northern Italy for two days?
compstond asked:
In my study abroad program, I have a four day weekend in Europe coming up and want to travel somewhere. I will be spending the first two days (Friday and Saturday) in Nice, France and want to spend the other two days in northern Italy while I am close. However, I am unsure where in Italy to go.
The cities I am considering are:
- Genoa (because it is so close and a French/Italian riviera tour sounds fun)
- Milan (because it is so big and I could probably find plenty to see and do here)
- Florence (because I have heard it is beautiful and has a lot of art)
- Venice (because it is a big tourist spot, although this also puts me off)
Having said this, I am open to any other suggestions. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Travelling to Italy: fly into Tuscany or Milan on New Year’s Eve?
E Z asked:
We are taking a 2 week trip to celebrate our anniversary in December and have two flight options when we arrive in Italy (from Paris) on New Year’s Eve….
1. Fly into Milan at around noon. Rent a car in Milan and drive to Bologna. (3 hour drive)
2. Fly into Tuscany (pisa airport) at 6pm. Rent car and drive to either Sienna, Florence, or somewhere in the countryside.
We’ve never been to italy and we don’t speak italian. One concern is that arriving a bit late on new year’s eve might be hard to navigate our way around. For example: maybe things close early….?
In terms of ease and general New Year’s Eve fun…. can anyone recommend option 1 or 2………….. and why?

Cheapest way to travel from one city to another in Italy?
pb k asked:
I will be going to Italy from Dec 18 - 26.
I was thinking train is probably the cheapest way to travel from one city to another. Can anyone confirm this?
Also what’s an estimate price?
The citys I will go to are Venice, Milan, Florence and Rome.
also, will it be cheaper if I book the train online rather than buying them at the train stop?

I will be traveling to Italy. What is the best way to carry money? ATM Card, or exchange into Euro then, here?
ariana m asked:
I’ve never been there so I don’t know if it’s expensive and how much money I should take. Also, I don’t know if it’s smart to just take my bank card. I know I’ll be sending items back through their postal service, any idea on how much I should put away to pay for that? One last thing… I will be visiting Milan, Venice, Florence, Siena, Rome, and Pompeii. Any places I should visit?
